Do you believe in a “fair” fight? Well, if you do, I would like to invite you over to my house to meet the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus. In this post, I will give you the 4 reasons why a “fair” fight is a fool’s fight.
How Do You – How Can You Define A “Fair” Fight?
Well, let’s see. We could start by saying a “fair” fight is one of honor, chivalry and gentlemanly conduct. What the… ! What the hell are we talking about here? Is this the 19th Victorian era where you slap the dude in the face with a pair of white-laced gloves and challenge him to a duel in the garden courtyard? Man! If somebody slaps me in the face with gloves – or anything else – there’s going to be some pretty serious derriere damage happening – right then and there!
Let us examine in even greater detail this absurd idea of fairness in a street fight. (We are not talking sports fighting here. We are talking street fighting!) What else does “fighting fair” mean?
#1 – A Fair Fight Means That You Will Strike Your Aggressor Once, Maybe Hurt Him, And Then Stop Striking – This is an extreme tactical error, for you are allowing an assailant who is out to harm you to recover and come back at you with even more force and angry aggression.
#2 – A Fair Fight Means That If He Asks For Mercy You Will Give It To Him – God is the forgiver of souls. You are the kicker of asses. You do not stop your attack until the threat against you has been neutralized. Street-savvy fighters will feign being hurt just for you to let up so that they can then attack you more viciously.
#3 – A Fair Fight Means You Will Have a Reticence or Fear of Hurting Your Assailant – Your fear of hurting the other person is practically a “suicidal mindset”. If you fear hurting the other person, you will not use your most damaging and effective blows. You will “play fight” with him until he sees the chance and the opening to seriously hurt you. You have the right to hurt someone in a real fight. That’s what’s fighting is all about.
#4 – A Fair Fight Means You Will Wait Until He Is Ready To Fight You – If he takes off his jacket – you will wait ’til he takes off his jacket. If he says, let’s step outside and fight – you will politely follow him outside. What the hell is that about! While he is taking off his jacket, “clock” him on the jaw while his arms are still caught up in his coat sleeves! While he is walking ahead of you to go outside to fight, hammer-fist him from behind on the nape of the neck!
As my teacher, Norm Bettencourt would say, “There is no such thing as a dirty fighter – only an educated one.”
I welcome you comments.
Respectfully,
Charles Prosper

Many of you have asked how can I, being middle-aged, have a body of a 30-year old. My secret. Baby weights! Here I demonstrate with my daughter, Luzemily and her best friend in the world since they were in diapers, Johana.
This is part of my weight training and fitness system that I will present to the world in my new upcoming book for this year “How To Get Fit Fast Over Fifty”.
Yours truly,
Charles Prosper

I have been doing a lot of thinking lately and have come to a mind blowing realization. That realization is that I must be doing something right. Here is why I have come to this conclusion:
I am 36 years old and have been actively involved in the martial arts since I was 5 years old, 31 years for those of you with no calculator handy! HAHA!
I have been teaching for quite some number of years now, and about ten years ago, a few people decided to go on a internet rant about how I was too young to teach, a fraud, no good at all and any other such nonsense they could come up with. I say nonsense because the majority of them had never once stepped into my dojo. This made me wonder how they could form such harsh opinions of someone they had never met.
This went on for a few years and at the time it really bothered me that people were saying all of these horrible things about me. I never showed them that it bothered me, but nonetheless it really did. It went from these people attacking my martial arts ability and credibility to making personal attacks against my physical appearance, marital status (being a single dad) and even a few death threats. Then after awhile it pretty much died down, other martial artists becoming the targets of these attacks.
With my popularity on the rise again, this time with much more zest than before, I have received a few negative comments. But funny thing, this time I actually loved the negative attention. It was then that it hit me like a ton of bricks….
The reason for this is because I have seen over the past ten years that almost every MAJOR martial arts master in the spotlight has undergone the same sort of negative attacks from the same types of people. Those being JEALOUS individuals who can not stand to see anyone succeed. I had been included in the same group as the famous and prominately spotlighted masters. I am a success!
Now there is a serious difference between looking at someones technique and making a comment as to its effectiveness or tactical fortitude and outright attacking their character and ability. I will often give constructive criticism of a technique in hopes to open the eyes of the person doing it, should I see tactical errors that could get them killed in a confrontation should the same error be made. And yes at times I can be blunt to get my point across.
If a master chooses to contact me and has feedback or critique on my technique I listen because this is how we grow and learn. Any true martial artist should be open-minded and devoid of ego enough to not only accept but crave critique from other masters. However it is another story altogether to go on a slandering and insulting campaign against another martial artist. If you don’t like what they do that is your choice, but don’t attack them. Again there is a fine, yet quite defined line between constructive criticism and just being an asshole.
So with that said, I must take it as though I have finally made it. Seeing as all of the great names in the martial arts that have been the subject of critique and criticism and downright slander to all out threats, I am among a sacred fraternity of those whom others are jelous of and could only hope to be. This must surely be why so many criticize us so frequently.
Or we all must be just that damn good that we are constantly at the front of your mind occupying your thoughts and taking up your precious cyber-dojo time. Yes that must certainly be the case. Considering the fact that every successful and prominent master the world over has at one time or another gone under the gun of the critics, it must truly mean something amazing and special when I too have been included in the list of those criticized, it is like a hall of fame or a who’s who list.
So here is to the brotherhood of the best. It shows, you know you’re at the top when the others start to hate you. Thanks for the criticism, thanks for the death threats (as empty as they are), thanks for making fun at me…it is because of you folks that I know I have achieved success and that you envy me. It just goes to show that insults are the best form of flattery!

This is a TV interview on Marjorie Newlin – 86-Year Old Bodybuilder
Marjorie Newlin started her bodybuilding lifestyle late, at the age of 72 years old. Nevertheless, at 86 years old, this young lady, competes in bodybuilding contests, and oh my God, she looks hot!! Judge for yourself.
So lady, what’s your excuse? It is not how old you are but how old you want to be.
Yours truly,
Charles Prosper
Leave me you comments. I’d really like to hear them.

Another amazing clip of a super-senior!
His name is Kali Diego and he runs a fitness gym out of Oakland, California – 62 years young!
Remember, it is no longer how old you are but rather how old you want to be.
What’s your excuse?

An amazing 3 minute clip of some amazing over 60 men!
Hey, you want to make age an excuse for not being active and doing what you want to do, go right ahead! But I think you’ll have a hard time complaining to these youthful over 60 specimens.
This post is a slight deviation from my usual fighting principles post, but I am also pitching my new book to be released this year “How To Be Fit Fast Over Fifty”.
The question is no longer how old you are but rather how old you want to be.

Fiona knows how to work it!
When we talk about self defense and self protection, we usually assume that it is between two macho men slugging it out. But the reality remains that many, many women are also assaulted by men. And a woman cannot be expected to go toe-to-toe exchanging blows with a man. In fact, no intelligent male fighter should go toe-to-toe with an aggressor.
Though there are many possible techniques that are ideal for saving a woman from peril, here, I want to give you the single most under-used but most effective counter attack available to a man or a woman.
Let us first examine the type of self defense situation a woman usually finds herself. Unlike that of a man, she is usually grabbed from the front or from behind. Because a typical man is larger than the average woman, a great majority of male to female assaults involve a man encircling his arms around the shoulders or arms of the woman.
His hands are occupied, and true the lady’s arms are circled, but she does have something that is free and that is unexpected. Her head. One of the most destructive and devastating counter attacks is the head butt.
But let me carefully explain how it must be executed. The area on your head that you must strike with is that part of the head that is maybe just a half of an inch or so below the area where the forehead meets the hairline. This is the hardest area of your head. Aim for the nose, and use the hairline area of your head as the striking surface.
When you smash into the nose with the right force, a total knockout is almost guaranteed.
So, be smart, ladies. Use your head.

The is one of the first movements taught in the URBAN Military Combatives Program.
This technique is meant to assist the student with developing a more aggressive nature to close with an opponent and end the fight.
What makes this program different from the others out there is only our way of training. We develop Propreoceptive Responses created by our scenarios and realistic drills that goes way beyond the theory of muscle memory.
We develop adaptive, critical thinking skills in the survival mindset.
When executing this technique, the first thing one must remember is to not “Fall in Love” with the technique. Allow yourself the adaptability you need to survive, and just add this movement to your toolbox by working with a live resisting partner until it becomes second nature in feel.
We do not promote the “greatness” of our name or instructors. We do our best to develop each individual student. The students, not the “experts” are what counts in the URBAN Military Combatives Program.
Our instructors are extremely experienced and very competent, however, they are committed and focused on the student’s understanding and development.
V/R,
Michael “Mikey” Warren
